Directions of Use: (Coir-Growbag)
As a hydroponic growing medium:
Cocopeat(Coir) is used as a soiless hydroponic growing medium through out the world especially
by the vegetable growers (tomato, egg plant, pepper, cucumber), in cut flower growers (rose,
chrysanthemum and carnation etc) and in Orchards (strawberry and melons) to get more and
high quality yield from their plant crops.
Cocopeat-Coir Grow Bags are widely used in hydroponic industry – very good alternative to
traditional peat moss and rock wool.
Depends upon the crop to be grown (plant density, irrigation, environmental conditions and
drainage) the layout will be varied. Generally Cocopeat-Coir grow bags can be laid on a flat or on a
little slope surface. Care should be taken to avoid contact with drainage water in order to avoid
contamination and disease potential.
Cut holes (3 – 4) on the top part of the plastic wrapping where plants are to be planted.
Number of holes depends upon the type of crop and spacing requirement for each crop. After
planting holes have been made in the Cocopeat-Coir grow bags, place a dripper (minimum of 1
dripper per plant) in the center of the hole. Add suitable liquid nutrient (~ 15 to 20 lts /bag) in to
the Cocopeat-Coir grow bags.
Leave the grow bag for 24 – 48 hours to absorb the nutrients. Make drainage slits (30 – 45mm
long) at the base of the Cocopeat-Coir grow bag midway between the planting holes or drippers.
Continue to irrigate the Cocopeat-Coir Grow Bags with nutrient solution to generate run off
(minimum of 15 – 20%) and measure the pH and EC.
Plant the crops once the EC of the run off is at the required level and manage the crop
according to requirements.
Add suitable liquid nutrients to the plants regularly (depends upon the environmental
conditions and phase of growth).
The quantity, strength of liquid nutrient and frequency of application depends upon the crop
and the environmental conditions.
Contact certified consultant to determine optimal nutritional management of the crop and to
maximize the productivity.
